Science

We follow the aims of national curriculum to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
  • develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
  • are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future

During the year children get to experience science through workshops and shows, such as Andrew Smith's Minibeast Workshop and The Kinetic Theatre for Science.  We also organise trips to places such as the Science Museum, the Horniman Museum, the Sea Life Centre and Godstone Farm.

Children also take part in a variety of national events. 

For Outdoor Classroom Day children were encouraged to explore the school grounds, looking at the plants and animals.  They used what the discovered as inspiration to create a piece of art using natural materials:
