More about the Governors
Elizabeth Blake
As Head Teacher, I work closely with the Local Committee in terms of developing the strategic vision and direction for the school. I work with LCMs on setting and monitoring the school budget, recruitment, data analysis, buildings and premises, safeguarding and a range of other areas and value their range of expertise greatly. I became Head Teacher of Bickley in January 2017, but have been the Head Teacher of schools in Croydon before this one and have been a member of 5 Governing Bodies

I have 40 years’ experience of working in state education, split between 21 years’ mainstream teaching in London comprehensives, then 19 years in the field of special education, specifically with children and young people with physical disabilities. I have also worked in the NHS. I retired in 2018 and now attend and contribute to All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) on Disability, Education and the Teaching Profession. I am particularly interested in equality, diversity and inclusion and I am currently the Local Committee member (governor) for Inclusion.

My two grandsons attend Bickley Primary School. I have worked in education for many years in senior management in the secondary sector. I am now retired and have become interested in Primary Schools. I’m also a Parish Councillor and on the Boards of a number of Educational Trusts. At Bickley, I am the Local Committee member for Safeguarding, Attendance and Welfare.

My two children attend Bickley and I've really enjoyed being a part of this amazing community of parents. My professional experience is centred on HR and employment law and I am excited about bringing this experience to my role as Parent Committee Member.
